HSBC Community Festival showcases 21 community projects; 10,000+ visitors experience community innovation first-hand

The HSBC Hong Kong Community Festival (the “Festival”)—the finale of the HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme (“CPP”)—was held over two days at Central Market, attracting over 10,000 visitors. It brought together 21 community projects, showcasing outcomes through interactive booths, hands-on experiences and workshops, helping the public better understand how CPP supports intergenerational inclusion and community innovation.

At the Festival, The Hongkong Bank Foundation (the “Foundation”) also announced the launch of HSBC Youth @ventures Programme, a new youth sports and arts initiative targeting 2,500 teenagers, provide sports and music training with an aim to boost their confidence and build resilience.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Hon K K Chan, Chief Secretary for Administration of the Government of the HKSAR; Dr Peter Wong, Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and The Hongkong Bank Foundation; Mr David Liao, Co-Chief Executive of HSBC Asia and Middle East ; Ms Maggie Ng, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Hong Kong, and Hon Grace Chan, Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (“HKCSS”).

Awards were presented to recognise outstanding projects under the 2025 HSBC Community Partnership Programme, as well as winning teams from the SMART Community Hackathon.

Dr Peter Wong said: “For 45 years, The Hongkong Bank Foundation has supported the Hong Kong community. Building a more cohesive society requires sustained collaboration across the public, business and social sectors. As the Foundation’s flagship initiative, the HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme is expected to benefit around 300,000 young people, seniors and caregivers this year. We’ve also launched the HSBC Youth @ventures Programme, partnering with four charitable organisations to provide sports and music training for local youth, supporting their holistic development and resilience.”

In collaboration with HKCSS, CPP committed HKD 18 million in 2025 to fund 21 projects led by 19 NGOs. Hon Grace Chan remarked: “The 21 projects supported by HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme address social needs through innovative and community-based approaches. We are pleased to see cross-sector collaborations that bring together diverse expertise, enhancing both the impact and sustainability of these initiatives. For example, a marine conservation organisation partnered with Sai Kung district centre to design ocean exploration activities for students with special educational needs, fostering environmental awareness and community engagement. Meanwhile, a design institute collaborated with elderly service organisations and primary schools in Choi Hung Estate to promote intergenerational interaction and build a more age-friendly community. Together, these efforts advance a more inclusive and sustainable Hong Kong.”

The HSBC Youth @ventures Programme is delivered in collaboration with the Greater Bay Area Youth Orchestra, The Hong Kong Virtuoso Chorus, InspiringHK Sports Foundation, and Rugby For Good. To mark the launch, singer Jay Fung was invited to perform at the ceremony and share his musical journey with students.

Themed “Celebrating Everyday Heroes”, this year’s CPP recognises the collective achievements of 21 outstanding projects. Each project will receive a bespoke award, specially crafted to honour their dedication and innovative spirit in supporting the community. The theme encourages everyone in Hong Kong to walk alongside their communities—witnessing the efforts of participating organisations, sharing experiences, and inspiring one another. Following the Community Festival, these awards will be exhibited on the ground floor of Times Square in Causeway Bay from 20 to 27 May.
