HSBC Kicked Off 160th Anniversary Celebration with Spectacular 2025 Chinese New Year Fireworks in Hong Kong

HSBC proudly presented the 2025 Hong Kong Chinese New Year Fireworks Display, a vibrant celebration of the Year of the Snake and the official launch of the bank’s 160th anniversary festivities. Co-ordinated by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government, this HSBC-sponsored event spread the joyous spirit of Chinese New Year throughout the city.

The grand celebration took place at Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade on Thursday, 30 January, drawing notable dignitaries including Mr John Lee, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and his wife, Mrs Janet Lee. They were accompanied by Mr Paul Chan, Financial Secretary, and Ms Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the HKSAR; alongside other esteemed guests to commemorate this festive occasion.

The fireworks display featured nine dynamic scenes that illuminated the night sky, symbolising hope and vitality for the year ahead. Enhancing the festive atmosphere, the HSBC Main Building in Central and the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre in Wanchai showcased a dazzling, synchronised LED light show, beautifully integrating modern design with traditional celebrations. Additionally, children from Wayfoong Nursery School delivered a heartwarming performance, infusing the festivities with warmth and youthful energy.

This event marked the beginning of HSBC’s 160th anniversary celebrations, featuring a diverse array of events and programmes planned throughout 2025 to honour this significant milestone and deepen its engagement with the community.
