HSBC offers new support for Wang Fuk Court residents

HSBC has introduced new measures to support individuals and families affected at Wang Fuk Court. The support aims to ease financial strain and was developed in alignment with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Hong Kong Association of Banks.

Immediate Support for Financial Relief

  • A pre-approved six-month payment holiday for credit cards and loans has been offered to Wang Fuk Court residents.
  • Affected customers may also apply for an interest-free personal instalment loan or credit card cash instalment plan of up to HKD50,000 over a term of up to 24 months.

Fee waivers

  • HSBC will waive/refund different service fees for all affected residents, including:
    • autoPay instruction returned as a result of insufficient funds fee
    • Returned cheque fee
    • Clean bill returned unpaid fee
    • Safe Deposit Box break-in fee and new key deposit fee
    • One-year Safe Deposit Box annual rental fee
  • HSBC will also waive handling fees for all donations to NGOs and the Government Support Fund for Wang Fuk Court.

Branch operating hours extension

  • The Tai Po branch and the Premier Centre will continue to extend their operating hours this weekend:
    • Saturday, 6 December: 9am to 5pm
    • Sunday, 7 December: 9am to 1pm

Relief Payment

  • Affected HSBC Life individual life insurance policyholders will receive a one-time relief payment.

Replacement of damaged banknotes and coins

  • Effective immediately, individuals (including non-HSBC customers) impacted by the recent fire incident may present damaged banknotes (from any note-issuing banks) and coins at any HSBC branch for assessment and possible replacement, subject to the following requirements:
    • All banknotes and coins must be authenticated as genuine.
    • There must be no indication of deliberate damage or fraudulent activity.
    • The face value and issuing bank must be clearly identifiable from the remaining fragments of the note or coin.
