HSBC welcomes over 240 graduates and summer interns in Hong Kong

Strengthening Hong Kong’s international talent pipeline

HSBC is welcoming more than 240 new graduates and summer interns in Hong Kong this year, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to developing the next generation of talent in one of the world’s leading international financial centres.

All of the graduates are joining HSBC’s flagship Global Graduate Programme, a structured development pathway designed to build future leaders through immersive on-the-job learning, formal training and exposure across HSBC’s global network.

Maggie Ng, HSBC’s Hong Kong CEO, said: “Hong Kong is a vibrant international city, and this new cohort of colleagues is equally dynamic and driven. They come from over 50 universities across Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Americas, and have chosen to build their careers in this city—an international financial centre. To further enhance Hong Kong’s role as a platform that connects markets and capital and supports businesses going global, talent is an indispensable foundation. HSBC will continue to actively strengthen Hong Kong’s talent pool.”

Ng added that HSBC is accelerating the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across its business. “AI has the potential to boost productivity and deliver more efficient, more personalised experiences for customers,” she said, encouraging new joiners across all business areas to embrace technology responsibly—while underscoring that human judgement remains at the core for banking.

This year’s new joiners in Hong Kong span a wide range of business areas and support functions. Among the graduate hires and summer interns, the male and female representation is approximately 43% and 57% respectively. Around 70% majored in accounting, business, and finance.

Ng also shared HSBC Hong Kong’s strategic priorities and highlighted the market’s importance to the Group at an induction event. HSBC Hong Kong contributed around 26% of group profit before tax in 2025. HSBC will continue to enhance the value and competitiveness of its Hong Kong franchise by deepening collaboration across business divisions.

Beyond employment opportunities, HSBC is committed to helping young people in Hong Kong as they plan their careers and pursue their ambitions. Since 1965, The Hongkong Bank Foundation has launched several scholarship programmes. To date, it has supported more than 7,500 students in pursuing their aspirations across different fields while giving back to the community.
